Livestock Guardian Dogs for Predator Mitigation
Livestock & Property Predator Mitigation starts here…
Over at our home farm, We raise well-known, high-quality Great Pyrenees and Turkish Kangal Livestock Guardian Dogs (LGDs) — purpose-bred for REAL working environments, not as pets or backyard companions.
These guardian dogs are bred for livestock protection, started with livestock from birth (horses, chickens, goats), and placed into working homes where predator losses are a real issue.
Purpose-Bred Working Livestock Guardian Dogs
Our LGDs aren’t “pet dogs.” They come from true working lines selected for temperament, guarding instinct, and reliability.
• Raised from birth around livestock
• Instinctive guardian behavior
• Natural deterrent to predators
• Calm around stock, alert to threats
If you’re experiencing predator losses, a properly raised LGD can be one of the most effective, non-lethal predator mitigation tools you can add to your farm or ranch.
Raised with Livestock — Not Introduced Later
Every pup in our program is introduced to livestock early — living with horses, goats, and poultry from day one. This early imprinting is what allows LGDs to bond deeply with the animals they protect.
This creates:
✔ Strong flock/herd bonding
✔ Reduced roaming and misbehavior
✔ Confidence in guarding instincts
✔ Better long-term livestock protection
(Experts note that early bonding between LGDs and livestock creates more dependable guardian behavior than late introductions or secondary training.)
How LGDs Reduce Predator Losses
Livestock Guardian Dogs work by presence and deterrence, not by chasing or herding animals. Their natural behaviors help reduce losses from coyotes, dogs, bobcats, foxes, and other predators by:
• Establishing and defending territory
• Patrolling perimeter areas
• Vocal alerting at unusual activity
• Conditioning predators to avoid pastures
The mere presence of a guardian dog is often enough to discourage predators before anything happens — which is why LGDs are so effective when properly placed.

Why a Livestock Guardian Dog Matters
Predator pressures on livestock are real and ongoing. LGDs offer a sustainable, non-lethal solution that works 24/7. When properly raised and placed, they:
• Lower livestock losses
• Reduce need for lethal control
• Protect poultry, goats, sheep, and other animals
• Provide peace of mind for ranchers and farmers
This is practical predator mitigation built on instinctive guardian behavior — not training gimmicks or temporary fixes.
